Are you sure it is an ingrown hair and not a bug bite or pimple? Anyhow, to help with the swelling, put ice on it and then apply a salicylic acid ointment (pimple gel) which will help exfoliate the skin and get the hair out. If it is a bug bite, use calamine lotion. Also, if it is a pimple, using heat (washcloth put under hot water and then wrung out) can help bring it to a head. Good luck! If it doesnt clear up in a couple days, it could be a boil or some weird bug that's injected an egg under the skin-- not to freak you out! That is rare if you haven't been out of the country! Anyhow.... if it begins to really hurt or turn crazy colors, see a doc ASAP.
