Jergins sells a lotion that helps the hair feel thinner and come back slower. To prevent ingrown hairs, mix rubbing alcohol and water and splash on just shaved legs. It burns a bit, but alcohol is what is in after shave to prevent the same.

Use a solid deodorant on it. Rub it where you shaved - it really works!

There are creams and lotions that have hair growth inhibitors that will slow the growth. Also, if you exfoliate well, it will help to stop the ingrown hairs. For me, I get the best shave after soaking in a hot bath, exfoliating with a pumice stone and using a new razor each time, not in the shower.
