The best way to prevent ingrown hairs is to exfoliate. If you are getting them on your face from shaving, you should either use a moisturizer that has salicylic acid in it or you can use a facial scrub. I prefer using a chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid or glycolic acid. Most of the times these are found in acne treatments. I wouldn't use anything with benzoyl peroxide because it doesn't exfoliate, it just kills bacteria. Clean and Clear has an acne moisturizer with salicylic acid and Proactiv has a toner with glycolic acid. If you are talking about ingrown hairs on your scalp, you can crush up aspirin and put them in your shampoo. When you shampoo with this, it helps exfoliate your scalp. This can sometimes be good for dandruff too. The aspirin is just a different form of salicylic acid. It will start to work after a few weeks.

i dont kno how to avoid them, virtutally impossible. But if you try St Ives exfoliating apricot body wash, it really works!! It leaves your skin soft andn supple.. and its quite cheap too.

Try to remove the hair with a needle and tweezers.

Don't cut your hair so short. If you cut it too short and you have curly hair, it will curl right back into your skin.

Exfoliate the area regularly to remove dead skin that may block the hair follicle. There are many inexpensive cleansers (for face and/or body) available, just look for the word "exfoliating" on it.
