How to get rid on ingrown hair in scalp?

I have this huge bump on the back of my head, and i believe it is caused from an ingorn hair. Time to time, i get little bumps back there after a haircut, but they go a way for a few days. I have had this bump for a few months, and I'm jus tired of waiting for it to go away!

Are there any products to treat it, or sum method I can go about? I wear all of my hats backward so that the brim covers that huge thing from plain site whenever I am out somewhere! Please help, I'd like to show my fully-exposed head to the world again!!! lol

Thanks to all who respond in advance!

Well personally what i would go do is see a docter abot it and ask what could cure it.

this sounds gross, but if you trust anyone to do this...have them take a needle and stick in it the bump (i know this is gross) and fish the hair out. the hair mostly likely will appear to be laying flat, but if you just shove the needle under one side of it, you can pry the other side out....then id just pluck it to get rid of it all together! i know that was gross, but lol thats how ya gotta do it!

ps - dont be intimidated by a "needle" just use a safety pin or something...obviously sterilize it first, but it really doesnt hurt.

The best thing to do is to use an after shave and if you still have problems use a little peroxide on the areas that have bumps.

If it is an ingrown hair, you should try to pull it out with a tweezer first.

Also, if you use a exfoliator on your head/neck then it will prevent some of the dirt from getting in there to infect the area.

If it is ingrown, it came out and then went back in. Usually you can take tweezers and pull it out from where it entered. It will hurt!

wet a wash cloth as hot as you can stand it and put it on the area --- as the cloth cools re wet it w/hot water again -- do this for about 10 -15 mins per day at least a few times per day and it should help!

Also, maybe with the next haircut try bump stop there...

and make what ever is used to cut your hair with is clean!!!! and cleaned before it is used on You!

I've gotten ingrown hairs on my scalp before too, and I know how much they suck. What you have to do is have someone pluck it with a tweezer and squeeze out the infection like a pimple. You might even want to try dabbing Hydrogen Peroxide or Rubbing alcohol on it too. If you get them that often, you might want to talk to a dermatologist, and If it appears to be anything other than just an ingrown/infected hair follicle, be SURE you talk to a doctor. Hope this has helped!
