Help, really bad ingrown hair... what can I do?

I hate talking about this, but I just don't know what else I can do. I get really bad ingrown hairs on my legs... my bottom half so from my knee down. I use to wax and people told me that my skin is too sensitive so i shave now and BELIEVE ME it got a lot better. Waxing was horrible for me. I also use all kinds of oils and stuff and I'm still getting really big and painful ingrown hairs... I even stopped wearing skirts because it's so bad.. Is there anything out there or is this a hopeless case?

Before you shave, exfoliate really well. Then use a new razor (dull razors = bad) and a shaving cream designed for sensitive skin. This should help prevent some of the bumps.

For the ones you already have, dab them with a salicylic acid treatment (like a toner or a gel). This will help exfoliate that top layer of skin and release the hair. Add a little bit of hydrocortizone cream (like Cortaid) to help treat the inflammation and redness.

You should also think about visiting a dermatologist. He/she can offer you a lot of helpful advice on the best way to care for sensitive skin.

try using Tend Skin before and after waxing or shaving. It will help prevent those in-grown hairs.

Exfoliate before you shave, and shave in the direction of the hair when you do. Use a shaving gel like skintamite (sp?). Also, don't shave as often. Wait until it is noticeable. Many women seem to think that as soon as they can feel it, everyone can see it. That's just not true. And when you get the ingrown hairs, use tweezers or squeeze them. When you see the hair poking out of the bump, stop and leave it alone. If it's infected looking, you can put neosporin on it and a band-aid. Leave it that way overnight, then take it off.

If you get ingrow hairs alot, you need to exfoliate your legs or whatever your problem areas are. That way the dead skins cells are gone. And if you have sensitive skin you might want to try something that is not to harsh. And if that doesnt work for you, try going to a salon and asking an esthetician. They know all about skin
