personally i get ingrowns when i shave a lot of the time. i am not 100%% sure why it happens, but i think it is mainly cause i think of the type of hair you have...personally i have kinda curly hair, so i think that is why i get them, case they curl under the skin as it is growing back...an ingrown is just a hair htat soesnt come out straight. the way to treat it, is...or at least I take tweezers and pull the hair out of the bump, which is really like a pimple...it can and probably will bleed depending how deep the hair is. if you wait it out it may find its way out on its own, but in the mean time it is very irritating, so i take them out. as far as prevention, i dont think there is a way to prevent it. It is just the way the hair follicle grows under the skin after you have shaved, so not much you can do for something under the skin. hope that helped.

I have found that the type of razor used can make a difference and if using a blade razor, the newer the razor, the better.
