Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

i bought an epilator recently and made a right pigs ear out of it and now i have an abundance of ingrown hair. I have managed to get them all so far with a pair of tweezers but they keep growing back ingrown.

Is there anything i can do to make sure they start to come back normally?

sensible answers only please.

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

First of all quite using the tweezers. You will only make them grow deeper if you keep that up. What you need to do is soak in a hot (not too hot) bath and use a scrub puff/or/ a loofah sponge to exfoliate your skin. And use an anti-bacterial soap when you do. After-wards use a mild lotion; such as baby lotion. This will help to wash away the surface skin and allow for the hairs to come through.

To prevent in grown hairs in the future. First scrub the areas down with the anti-bacterial soap. Then pat dry the areas before you use the epilator again. Then after shaving use a cotton ball that is soak in witch-hazel and rub it on the areas to prevent any more ingrown hairs.

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

Hi i have exactly the same problem, except i couldn't get the hairs out and ended up with an infection in the hair follicle where i tried to dig the hairs out ouch its painfull and i have been left with purple scarring never going to epilate again, its back to the shaving PS sorry can't help,

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

I have heard that exfoliation helps prevent ingrown hairs - what about trying one of those silky mit things - bit like sandpaper for your legs? Not sure if it will help but worth a try. Good luck and thanks - I was going to get an epilator but now I'll just stick to the razor !

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

Contact the manufacturer of the epilator see if they can

offer any advice it must be a known possible side effect!

Sounds horrible poor you.

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

Hi,

I had the same problem when I tried waxing and regret ever doing it.

Exfoliate with a mild body scrub and when you shave with a razor always shave the way your hair lies. Never shave against as this can also cause the hairs to grow inwards.

It is hard being a woman!!!

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

I use the Epilator too...n i get ingrown hairs as well.

I just exfoliate with a body scrub...it usually breaks the hair free from under the skin. N then i epilate again.

I think u should not use tweezers...

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

I doubt you made a pigs ear out of it, the first time I used my epilator I ended up with ingrowing hairs and I tried tweezers but they were not the answer.

I still use my epilator and have no problem now. As you currently have ingrowing hairs I would recommend you use some antibacterial or tea tree bases soap when washing/exfoliating to prevent infection.

Exfoliating is the answer for me. I exfoliate daily now, with a mitt that I bought in boots, and I always shower and exfoliate after epilating. exfoliating removes any dead skin cells and allows hairs free. The other bonus is the exfoliating and the epilating leave you with lovely smooth legs.

I hope this helps

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

Exfoliating the skin can be a very useful procedure for preventing ingrown hair or razor bumps. This process will remove the barriers that prevent the hair from growing out of the skin. It should be performed regularly when bathing or when the face is washed. Exfoliation can be performed with a gentle scrubbing pad, an exfoliating glove or a loofah. Certain creams that contain beta hydroxy acids, such as salicylic acid can help to exfoliate the skin and are very effective.

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

When you pluck these hairs, check you have the root,it resembles a little bulb.If you don't,the hair will continue growing under the skin.

Once you have the bulbs out,the next growth should come through normally.Just try not to snap off the hair.

Ingrown Leg Hair Question?

I had the same problem, but it was due to waxing. I started to shave with hair conditioner and found it helped a lot.
